In a landmark joint venture, Lelienfontein Vine Growers and partners Adama Workers Trust have formed the biggest black economic empowerment deal in the wine industry to date.

Some 430ha of prime farming land has been transferred to Adama Apolo Holdings, which is 100% owned by eligible workers on the farm. Also included is a 50% share in De Rust (Pty) Ltd and De Bos Landgoed (Pty) Ltd, a 5% stake in Bosman Boerdery (Pty) Ltd and 30% in Bosman Family Vineyards (Pty) Ltd. The wine cellar is now fully owned by the Trust.

At the heart of the deal is social upliftment and skills transfer, with indigenous fynbos conservation a secondary goal.
